We recognise that getting divorced is a time of stress and uncertainty. Therefore where married couples agree by mutual consent to end their relationship by filing for divorce, we can offer to carry out the legal work on a fixed fee scheme. This allows a degree of certainty for all concerned and means that legal costs will not spiral out of control.
How does the scheme work?
The scheme applies where proceedings are uncontested and matters are straightforward. All of the legal work can be completed for a fixed fee of £595.00 plus VAT plus Court fees. A full breakdown of this is provided below:-
- Our fees - £595.00
- VAT - £104.13
- Court Fee (issue of divorce) - £300.00
- Court Fee (Decree Absolute) - £40.00
- Total Cost - £1039.13
What do I need to pay and when?
Not only will you know how much to pay, but you will also know when you need to pay it. This makes budgeting easier. There are three staged payments: -
- When you give us instructions - we ask for payment of £500.00.
- When your Divorce Petition is ready to be sent to the Court - we ask for a futher payment of £500.00.
- Finally, when we apply for Decree Nisi - we ask for a final payment of £39.13.
What work is excluded in the fixed fee?
As the shceme is intended for those parties who have reached a settlement, the following work is not included in the scheme:
If such work is necessary then it will be charged on an hourly rate basis, ranging from £145.00 - £185.00 (plus VAT) depending on the seniority of the lawyer.
Rest assured that we will not carry out any of this additional work without first of all agreeing it with you. We understand that it is important that you are aware of the costs that are being incurred and we aim to be fully transparent in our approach to costs.
